Movement is the fourth dimension of a character. It's the ultimate tool in telling a story.
And that's why I love animation!
And that's why I love animation!
In the 1990s, I naively contacted Walt Disney Studios seeking advice in pursuing an animator's career. I found myself in the middle of a contest to hire 16 new animators out of thousands of professional applicants worldwide. With no education or experience in the field I survived two years of eliminations to the final round of 50.
The message was clear. Before approaching a professional studio again it was imperative to educate and train myself in the art of animation.
After years of self study the discovery of an online school, AnimationMentor.com, taught by professional animators (the same method of training the "Nine Old Men" of Disney had received) again opened up the possibility of a career in professional animation. |
To make certain, however, for several more years I honed my craft creating animations for racetrack/casinos, churches, and small business advertising. Recently, I helped develop an animated movie project with Veritas Entertainment serving as character designer and story developer. |
This is my Animation Demo Reel beginning with an 11 Second Club contest entry (Nov. 2015). Everything except the character rigs themselves was created by me (Complete reel breakdown is listed on the site). There are a couple of school projects, but most are my own exercises and work assignments.
Here is a Beer Run animation I created for Remington Park Racing Casino.
A different run for each floor of the building was developed, then of those a different video was created to show each beer a winner. The crowd could guess which video would be shown.
I created the concept, storyboard, character rigs and backgrounds.
I also have a Video/Animation Reel from my work at Remington Park featuring story development and storyboarding as well as producing, directing, camera work, editing as well as animation.
A Music Video to follow the fad of videos that began with the 2012 Olympic athletes.
Not exactly animation, but I'm proud of it none the less.
